Alan Vonder Haar, better known as “Dr. V”, is not a real doctor but plays one on TV. For the past twenty-four years, he has been the mattress spokesperson and specialist for Miskelly Furniture, a seven store chain in Jackson, MS. After graduating from the University of Missouri – Columbia, Alan began his career with Denny Boyd at Royal Waterbeds in St. Louis, MO. Shortly after this, he opened his waterbed stores in Jackson, MS. After ten years, he closed his business and joined Miskelly Furniture. Rising to top management, he has moved their mattress business from 7% to 25%. He believes that customer experience is the differentiator in the mattress buying process. Alan currently lives in Brandon, MS with his wife and four children.
